How to get there without a car

It is very simple to go to Inuyama Castle.

Take the JR Tokaido Line from Maibara station to Nagoya station.

Then take the Meitetsu Inuyama Line Rapid Limited Express to Inuyamayuen station which is only five stops from Nagoya station.

Finally, you go up the street from Inuyamayuen station on foot. Up the hill, up the hill…until the shrine gate. You can see the sign of shortcut here. You should follow this advice if you want to keep your energy as much as possible for the steep climb.

The view from the top floor of castle is fantastic! However, you might feel scared or have vertigo like me when you walk on the narrow balcony aisle. Please be careful on the windy day. Actually, I only walked around half way, then I went back inside quickly.

By the way, this town has also the character and the image song like Hikonyan in Hikone-city. Its name is Wanmaru-kun. Check it out below.

Food around this area

■ At Fushimi station, which is only one stop from Nagoya station ➡ インド料理 カリスマ

If you love to eat Indian food, this restaurant is good for you! Their butter chicken curry and honey naan are very tasty.

■ Inuyama station ➡ キリン亭

Fried food lovers! They don’t offer any greasy food. Crispy, tasty, and quite big volume of food. You can try some homemade Japanese plum juice here. I want to drink it again!

COCOTOMO FARM

This store offers many kinds of baumkuchen. Interesting thing is that their baumkuchens are made from rice flour. Also, the company grows their own rice and makes the rice flour! You can get some tea or water from the self drink sever during eating baumkuchen. Hot hoji tea goes well with baumkuchen. Yum yum.
